Merry Christmas 2024

Geography prevents us having a family picture as most do. But last Christmas we were all together at our house, and we’re using this pic again. Just act like you haven’t seen it before.

The word “still” may  best describe us this Christmas.

Joyce and I are “still” in Hooker.

Jeff and Angela are “still” in Deer Park, IL.

Zayne is “still” in Owasso.

Matt, Ashley, Emma, Elijah, Ezra, Ellie, and Elspeth are “still” in Scotland.

Matt, Aspen, Camden and Tenley are “still” in Haysville (think Wichita).

Everyone  is “still” pretty much doing what they have done. Some “still” hope for a change.

On the hillside that clear, starry night where the shepherds were abiding, it was “still.” Then the angels came.

The shepherds saw the light, they heard the message, they were afraid. But, they hurried to Bethlehem to see “this thing” of which the Angel spoke.

Then, “when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.” Luke 2.17 (Did you notice that word “abroad?”)

Do you remember the chorus from Joseph’s Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat? Joseph and his family are experiencing tough times (starvation). The chorus goes something like this; “Joseph, Joseph, we’ve read the book, and it turns out all right.”

Those words to Joseph and those to the fearful shepherds “still” apply.

The answer is in The Book.

Wise men “still” seek him.

The Christ was coming to make things right for Joseph and his people. It was true for the shepherds on the hillside, and wherever our hillside may be, true for us today.

Listen to the Angel. Trust in the Christ

Merry Christmas
