Fourteen years ago this week, we began hanging out in the NICU at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. We were there to visit Camden and Tenley, whose premature arrival made them automatic residents. In their tiny plastic boxes, this was their home for eight weeks.
The NICU was dimly lit. You entered through wide swinging doors after scrubbing up just like surgeons. There were lots of tubes, the soft whirring sound of blowers running somewhere, flashing lights and numbers of various colors, beeping sounds, and the occasional alarm.
Extremely competent and in-charge nurses moved quietly about checking on their tiny babies in the boxes, making sure you didn’t touch anything you weren’t supposed to, and always asking if they could do anything for you. 😎 They almost always were smiling… very important in this setting.
We were never allowed to stay long.
So my question is, how did those two babies in the boxes get this big? Why is the topic of discussion now drivers tests?
I remember thinking from the moment of their arrival, “Are they even going to make it?”
I needn’t have worried. We have a great God!
Truly Amazing! God is so very great!
Thanks for your comment and very quick read. I haven’t even finished my coffee.😎
Love this. We are so thankful and proud of the young teenagers you are growing into. You are both strong and determined to succeed in you chosen paths. God is blessing your lives, and has been there since before you breathed your first breath. Remember to honor Him and let Him guide and direct you as you make your way in life. Love you both so much. Happy upcoming birthday, (November 1st) ♥️ 🎈🍰👏🏻🎈♥️
