This is the main road leading to Glamis Castle where over the years, we’ve spent many an hour. I hasten to add lest there be any misconception, we were paying guests and not invited ones.
Glamis is just 14 miles (as I recall) outside Dundee. Joyce’s sister Frances treated us several years ago to the Scottish Proms on the grounds of Glamis. It was an evening performance of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. Most guests brought an evening meal. Frances had prepared a lovely buffet for us. Some attendees had gone so far as to bring fancy tables, and even had waiters to serve them. They however could not have enjoyed their meal any more than did we.
The highlight of the evening was Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture with…wait for it…real cannons! And, the Cannoneers were dressed in period costumes.
It was a magical evening!
Just in case any might be laboring under yet another misconception, that’s not Joyce and I in the classic wee red sports car. We did however have one not unlike it Ours was newer (1970 TR6) and its color was called Damson. But if you would prefer to think it’s really Joyce and I, that’s perfectly all right. (I’m sure we drove the ole TR up and down down that road many times, but there just wasn’t anyone to take our picture)
This ends your cultural education for the evening.
You are welcome….
