Alabama does it again!
Not so long ago, as I was driving home from Wichita, I was inspired by a lyric in an Alabama song. Then, just like that, here’s another one.

I’m new to this whole Spotify and playlists thing. A Granddaughter piqued my interest in the process sometime back so I downloaded the app. I decided I might just like it.
The wires to my old fashioned earbuds kept gettin’ in my way so I decided to get some real Bluetooth earbuds (a Christmas gift to myself). And, since it’s close to Christmas I started building a Christmas playlist.
As I was listening to my new Christmas playlist the other day, while I was in the middle of something (I can do that now with my new earbuds), I heard the words, “It don’t take a lot of money to know what riches are.”
Now that’s profound! I thought to myself, “That’s a message a lot of folks need to hear.” I know I sure did/do. So I made a “note to self” to check later and see where that message had come from.
When I Googled it, I discovered it was my new friends Alabama again! I guess I’m just going to have to listen to more of their songs.
I have included the complete lyrics in this post just in case you might need a message as well. I really think there are more in there.
“There’s a road that I remember leading to a special place
Where the door was always open to a smiling face
There’s a picture on the mantle of a boy that looks like me
It’s always the same, there’s a stocking with my name
And a candle in the window, a flame against the night
There’s a candle in the window, it’s like God’s perfect light
It don’t take a lot of money to know what riches are
Just a candle in the window
Maybe it’s just wishful thinking I can hear the sleigh bells ring
Almost taste the pie she’s baking, it’s Christmas Eve
And there’s a candle in the window, a flame against the night
The candle in the window, it’s like God’s perfect light
It don’t take a lot of money to know what riches are
Just a candle in the window and Christmas in your heart
Wherever the years may take me no matter how far I go
There’s going to be a candle burning, it’s always nice to know
It don’t take a lot of money to know what riches are
Just a candle in the window and Christmas in your heart”
May you enjoy the richness of Christmas
