Thoughts at No. 5 Tee…

I hadn’t walked the golf course for almost rwo weeks. I had a cold I couldn’t get rid of. A left-over from our Rochester trip I think. But, I got out today after the lightning had passed. Cool morning, nice shower. Has the makings of a nice day.

As I walked toward, and then sat at my ‘thin place’ at No. 5 Tee, I enjoyed the increasing brightness of the rising sun, its multiple shades and colors and their increading vibrancy.

I noticed as the sun gradually rose above the curvature of the earth, that everything around it was changing as well, reflecting its increasing brightness. Things that had been dark, took on light, even the windows of the clubhouse and the grain elevator down on the highway. The clouds closer to where the sun was coming through were no longer gray but various shades of orange, and kept getting increasingly brighter.

It dawned (pun intended) on me that God intended for His Son to work exactly the same way in our lives.

Things that were dark and gray can become light. Things that were dimly bright can become brighter. And here’s something else I noticed: the things closest to the sun were the brightest.

God gave us His Son Jesus. He rose, and we like the clouds, the grain elevator and the clubhouse windows, are to reflect His light.

How bright should our light be? How close to the Son do you want to be?

Have a great day
