Unobstrusively judging…

Joyce and I stopped for coffee at Starbucks on West 21st North in Wichita. As we pulled into the parking lot, I said “look at that amazing little Mustang. That has to be about a 1966 model.”

As we ordered and sat down I unobtrusively scanned the other customers assessing who might belong to the Mustang. I decided on an older couple who were both reading books with a certain intensity. I sometimes do that myself when I’m waiting for Joyce to get her hair done; Go to Starbucks and read I mean.

I totally ignored a young man, also reading, who had a backpack and looked like he might have arrived on a bicycle.

As we waited, from our seat I could observe the Mustang right outside the door. A young lady went out and walked right past it. I had never considered her anyway.

The likely suspects still sat, reading intensely.

Then the young man with the backpack left and started to also walk past the Mustang, but then he paused and put his backpack in the passenger side front seat.

I had guessed wrong.

I stepped out and introduced myself and we visited briefly. He said it was, in fact, a 1966.

I told him I had remembered first seeing the Mustang in the showroom at Hodges Ford when I had been a Senior in High School. I was certain I would someday own one.

But haven’t yet.

I would never make it as a spook! 😊

Have  a great day.
